Why we need 3D artist in every project
TechCrunch is reporting that Microsoft is moving ahead with its acquisition of 3D software studio, 3D Artist, in an effort to bring more artists and designers to its cloud services.
The acquisition will bring Microsoft’s existing 3D team with it, along with some new talent.
It also includes a new digital studio for Microsoft’s Office 365 cloud, according to Recode.
Microsoft acquired 3D Studio Max in July of this year.
This is a high-profile acquisition, which means the acquisition is likely to have a major impact on the company’s overall 3D business, which has been plagued by frequent delays, a loss of talented artists, and the recent acquisition of Apple’s iWork suite.
While 3D studio acquisition was a bit of a surprise at the time, the move to acquire a 3D specialist has become more and more common in recent years, and Microsoft has invested heavily in creating more and better 3D solutions.
Microsoft recently acquired an international 3D company called 3DVision for $2 billion, which it plans to spend on adding new 3D-specific features to its services.
Microsoft’s acquisition of a 3DS Max team is the latest in a string of acquisitions in recent months, as it continues to diversify its cloud business and bolster its mobile platform.
